Built from personal urgency, not market research.

EngAGE started with a simple observation: the most valuable resource in any community is the accumulated wisdom of its older members, and it was going unshared. Not because people didn't want to share it. Because there was no easy, consistent way to do so.

We also saw university students isolated in a different way. Surrounded by peers but disconnected from the grounded, real-world perspective that only comes with decades of lived experience.

EngAGE is that bridge. Validated through a university startup challenge win and early conversations with Brisbane aged care providers who said: "This is exactly what our residents need."

EngAGE was born from a simple but urgent observation. Loneliness among older adults is one of the most pressing challenges in aged care today, and university students hold an underutilised key to solving it. We set out to build the bridge.

How we got here

2024

The idea takes shape

EngAGE starts as a response to a real problem. Older adults in aged care facing chronic loneliness while students lack access to real-world mentorship. The core concept of AI-powered intergenerational matching is developed.

Early 2025

UQ Ventures Startup Challenge. Winner.

EngAGE enters and wins the University of Queensland's startup challenge run by UQ Ventures, validating the idea in front of a panel of industry judges and investors. The win opens doors to the broader Australian startup and aged care ecosystem.
